Sydney Thunder have signed 20-year-old Victorian fast bowler Harry Hoekstra for KFC BBL|16, Cricket Australia reported on 5 November 2026. It is the left-arm quick's first Big Bash contract, and he has already played for Victoria in both the One-Day Cup and the Sheffield Shield this spring.
What Was Announced
Hoekstra joins a Thunder pace attack that includes New Zealand internationals Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson and the club's all-time leading wicket-taker Daniel Sams. The side is coached by Andrew Flintoff.
"Harry is an incredibly exciting young talent and we're absolutely thrilled to welcome him to the Thunder," club general manager Trent Copeland said in a statement. "He's a young left-arm quick who brings genuine wicket-taking ability."
Hoekstra took 5/42 against NSW in his second One-Day Cup match, then 6/103 in the Shield against reigning champions South Australia, a game in which he also top-scored in Victoria's first innings with 45 off 122 balls from No.9. His match figures of 9/98 against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval leave him with a Shield bowling average of 13.4 after two first-class matches.
"I grew up watching Trent (Boult) on TV. Being a fellow left-armer, he's done so well on the international and franchise stage for so many years," Hoekstra said.
