The BCCI announced the schedule for the fifth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) on 4 November 2026. The tournament will run from 14 January to 7 February 2027 and will be staged in two cities, Vadodara and Mumbai, with 11 matches at each venue.
What Was Announced
The season opens in Vadodara on Thursday, 14 January 2027, when defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on former champions Mumbai Indians (MI). The Vadodara leg runs until 24 January and features 11 matches as the five teams begin their campaigns.
The tournament then moves to Mumbai, where the Cricket Club of India's Brabourne Stadium will host the remaining 11 matches from 26 January. The league stage continues until 3 February.
The key dates, as announced by the BCCI:
- 14 January 2027: opening match, RCB v MI, Vadodara
- 14 to 24 January: Vadodara leg, 11 matches
- 26 January to 3 February: Mumbai league matches at the Brabourne Stadium
- 5 February (Friday): Eliminator, second v third on the points table
- 7 February (Sunday): Final, Brabourne Stadium
The team that tops the league standings goes straight into the Final. The Eliminator will also be played at the Brabourne Stadium.
All 22 matches, including the Playoffs, will start at 7:30 PM IST. The advisory was issued by BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia.
What It Means
The 2027 season will be played at just two venues. The five franchises complete the first half of the league in Vadodara, and every remaining match, including both Playoff fixtures, will be staged at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
RCB begin their title defence against MI, so two former champions meet on the opening night. With a single 7:30 PM IST start time for every fixture, there will be no afternoon matches between the opener on 14 January and the Final on 7 February 2027.
