Uganda beat Gambia by 10 wickets in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group C at the Nigeria Cricket Federation Oval 2 in Abuja on 23 October 2026, chasing a target of 28 in just 1.4 overs. Riazat Ali Shah was named player of the match after taking 3/11 as Gambia were held to 27.
How It Unfolded
Gambia won the toss and chose to bat first, but Uganda's bowlers gave them nothing. Andre Jarju top-scored with 15 not out off 15 balls, the only Gambia batter to reach double figures. Muhammed Manga made 7 off 13 balls, and nobody else managed more than a single run.
Riazat Ali Shah returned 3/11 from three overs, including a maiden. Enock Kasaija took 3/14 from his four overs, Alpesh Ramjani picked up 2/2 from a single over and Joseph Baguma struck with his second ball to finish with 1/0 from 0.2 overs.
Uganda's chase was over almost before it began. Robinson Obuya hit three sixes in an unbeaten 20 off six balls, and Anas Baig made 6 not out off four balls, including a four. Uganda reached 28/0 with 110 balls to spare. Abubacarr Kuyateh conceded 17 runs from his one over and Musa Jobarteh 11 from 0.4 overs.
The Oracle's Call
The CricMind Oracle locked Uganda as 95% favourites before the toss, with Gambia given a 5% chance, and the call was correct. Uganda came in rated 10th in the Oracle's rankings and Gambia 84th, and Gambia arrived having lost their last five matches. You can read the full Oracle call or follow every result on the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group C hub.
Uganda needed only ten legal deliveries to finish the chase, with Obuya's three sixes doing most of the damage. Gambia's whole innings, by contrast, produced just two boundaries, one each from Jarju and Manga. The win also adds another correct call to the Oracle report card.
