Perth Scorchers have signed England wicketkeeper-batter Aneurin Donald for KFC BBL|16, Cricket Australia reported on 23 October 2026. The 29-year-old, who made his T20 international debut last month, has agreed a one-year deal with full availability including finals. It is his maiden BBL contract.
What Was Announced
Donald joins the defending champions after Josh Inglis did not re-sign with the Scorchers in the player movement window following their sixth men's Big Bash title in January. Inglis has yet to commit to the club. Donald joins fellow England players Zak Crawley and Calvin Harrison on the list, after New Zealand's Finn Allen left for Melbourne Stars.
According to the report, Donald made 489 runs at a strike rate of 230.66 for Derbyshire in this year's T20 Blast, and 38 off 19 balls for Trent Rockets in the Hundred final at Lord's. He played every game in England's 3-0 T20I series win over Sri Lanka.
"We are incredibly excited to have Aneurin join our BBL squad this season," Scorchers general manager Kade Harvey said.
Head coach Adam Voges has now locked in 15 of a possible 18 players. The Scorchers' BBL|16 squad so far:
- Aneurin Donald
- Ashton Agar
- Mahli Beardman
- Cooper Connolly
- Brody Couch
- Zak Crawley
- Joel Curtis
- Aaron Hardie
- Calvin Harrison
- Mitch Marsh
- Will Malajczuk
- Lance Morris
- Joel Paris
- Jhye Richardson
- Ashton Turner
What It Means
Donald gives the Scorchers two wicketkeeping options alongside Joel Curtis. He has also been named in England's T20I squad for five matches in Australia across November and December, before the men's Big Bash begins.
